Laptop -- One thing I hate about college is the small dorm space that students are given to work with. Personally, I can tell you that throwing a 20 pound Desktop computer on that tiny desk is not the answer to your problems. That’s why Chuck Norris invented laptops for all your lightweight computer needs. One laptop I can personally recommend is the new 13″ Macbook Pro. This lightweight laptop has everything a college student needs to get his/her work done. Apple will of course give you a $100 student discount on any of their laptops and include a free iPod Touch with your order.

Smartphone - Having a mobile computer on the go is a great asset in college. You’ll be able to email your professors on the go to let them know you’re late or send them a last minute term paper on your way to class. The web browser functions on most smartphone’s will also allow you to browse the web as good as any computer allowing you to get necessary educational things done. I personally recommend the T-Mobile G1, iPhone (not a smartphone but just as good), and the Palm Pre as great phones to bring with you to school.

iPod -- I don’t mean to sound bias, but iPod’s are what a majority of college students want in their pockets on the way to class. If you go to college without the ever so popular white crappy ipod headphones, you’re guaranteed to feel like a black sheep among the heard of college students.

External Harddrive -- There’s nothing like typing up a 12 page term paper for school, saving it and returning to your computer to find out that your hard drive died. To avoid this frustration, an external hard drive is a great accessory for any student. I recommend the small Western Digital Student Edition. Tiger Direct has them in different color’s and sizes.

Wii Gaming Console -- A Wii gaming console is what every student needs. Its interactivity is something no other game system has. The motion controls allows students to relieve a lot of stress, especially during finals week. Pop in a good boxing game and pretend your opponent is your professor, works every time. Owning a Wii undoubtedly makes for a great way to meet new friends as well. P.S. -- Its an awesome chick magnet!

GPS System -- I’m sure I’m not the only person who’s let reading those printed Mapquest directions lead me and my family astray into the middle of no where. You’re about to go to college and possibly drive more miles than you’re use to, its time to upgrade those misleading directions to a useful gadget. A solid GPS system such as the “Tom Tom One 125” will keep you and your family on the course to school and out of bad neighborhood’s and murderous corn fields.
